ROMERO POLO’S WINNING BIDDER OF ONE OF THE LOTS FOR THE PLAÇA DE LES GLÒRIES DE BARCELONA GREAT TRANSFORMATION

Grupo Romero Polo has been the winning bidder for one of the lots for the great transformation of the Plaça de Les Glòries Catalanes in Barcelona in the urban project known as “Canòpia Urbana”. Specifically, BIMSA has awarded Romero Polo Lot 3, out of five in total, consisting of the construction of the new “Casa dels Jardiners” building and a groundwater storage tank. The end of the works is scheduled for March 31, 2019 and the investment is 2.5 million euros.

The “Casa dels Jardiners” will be the space of 560 square meters for the maintenance of the park. Under its facilities will be located the groundwater reservoir, with a capacity of 1,500 cubic meters, and which will serve several points of the city. The deposit will be buried and integrated within the vegetative scope of the future Les Glòries Park without generating visual impact. The project, located at the northern end of the park, also includes the adaptation and improvement of the sidewalks of the Independència and Consell de Cent streets.

The future “Canòpia Urbana”, with an extension of more than 45,000 square meters, will be one of the new green lungs of the city and will allow recovering a public space that has been pending for many years to be solved urbanistically. The new space will have areas for walking and recreational and educational and cultural equipment returning the place to the citizen of Barcelona.
