The joint venture of Romero Polo and the company VIAS, ACS group, has completed the work of the cleaning center of the Joan Miró Park in Barcelona, awarded by BIMSA (Barcelona City Council). The work, which lasted 23 months, has consisted in the construction of a building for the treatment of urban waste in the streets of Barcelona’s Eixample. The budget was 6.2 million euros.
The new cleaning center is located in the basement of the park with an area of about 3,000 square meters and will have 290 operators and 70 vehicles. The function of the building will consist of the centralization of the collection, treatment, storage and transport of road cleaning waste from the sweep and bins. This center will allow the efficiency of the service and will contribute to reduce CO2 emissions.
The complex will also house a space for complementary uses of the Parks and Gardens service, a place for the Neighborhood Association of the Matadero Park (Joan Miró Park) and an area for the maintenance of the Joan Miró sculpture fountain “Dona i Ocell. “
