PAPSA COMPLETES CONSTRUCTION ON THE FIRST ROUTE OF ARAGON’S EXTRAORDINARY ROAD PLAN SIX MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.

PAPSA Infraestructuras, an Aragonese company belonging to Romero Polo, has completed the works for Route 3 (Zaragoza Central) of the Extraordinary Road Plan (PEC). This is the first of the eleven routes to be finished since the launch of this ambitious regional plan.

Work began on August 19, 2024, and was carried out in just 24 months, finishing six months ahead of schedule. The project involved rehabilitating the road surface along more than 100 kilometers and comprehensively upgrading another 60 kilometers, with the aim of improving safety, driving comfort, and traffic conditions.

In total, the improvements cover 164 kilometers across seven regional roads: ARA-1, A-220, A-222, A-1101, A-1305, A-1307, and A-1404. Execution of the project, which included the construction of several bridges, required nearly 100,000 cubic meters of artificial road base material and the laying of over 200,000 tons of asphalt. This road network serves as a key link for much of the province of Zaragoza, connecting the capital and its metropolitan area with districts such as Campo de Cariñena, Campo de Belchite, Valdejalón, Bajo Martín, and Cuencas Mineras.

Following the handover of the project, PAPSA will assume responsibility for the maintenance and operation of this road network for a period of 25 years, in full compliance with the awarded contract.
