ROMERO POLO BEGINS URBANISATION WORKS IN THE SUD-6 SECTOR IN ELS ALAMÚS, THE KEY FUTURE LOCATION OF SPAIN’S LARGEST COLD STORAGE FACILITY
Romero Polo has begun work on the SUD-6 Sector Urbanisation Project in the municipality of Els Alamús (Lleida). This project represents a key strategic move for the industrial development of the Segrià region, as the sector will house the largest cold storage logistics infrastructure in the entire country.
The project, promoted by Ondina Logístics Lleida SL (Primafrío Group), is designed to strengthen large-scale cold storage and distribution, consolidating the province of Lleida as a crucial point on the map for international temperature-controlled freight transport. Romero Polo’s participation includes preliminary demolition work, earthworks, the installation of the water supply network, the new separate sewerage and storm drainage systems, the installation of LED street lighting, medium and low voltage networks, telecommunications and a complete irrigation network, as well as the pavement of roads and sidewalks.
One of the most notable technical elements of the project is the construction of a flood control pond. This hydraulic infrastructure is essential for sustainable water management, as it regulates the flow of rainwater during periods of heavy rainfall. Its function is to prevent the drainage network from becoming overloaded and to drastically reduce the risk of flooding in the area, thereby protecting future industrial facilities and the surrounding natural environment.
The urbanisation of this industrial sector represents a decisive boost for the economy of Segrià. Thanks to the provision of this first-class infrastructure, Romero Polo is contributing to the creation of a competitive environment that will attract investment, generate employment and strengthen the logistics fabric of the region.
