ROMERO POLO BUILDS NEW FGC HISTORIC VEHICLE PRESERVATION AREA

Romero Polo has completed the construction of the new space for the preservation and exhibition of the historical heritage of the Llobregat-Anoia Railway line, located next to the Martorell Central FGC station.

The new building, called “Metric Track Space”, houses more than twenty locomotives, cars and wagons that served the line during the twentieth century, both passenger and freight trains. The set of historical pieces is exhibited on three 105-meter-long tracks that run lengthwise through the building.

The building, which has an area of 2,200 square meters, forms a single, open-plan volume, and has been built with an apparently simple and minimalist geometry and composition of materials, but which gives the whole a strong architectural personality.

At the same time, the company is constructing a new Park & Ride parking building adjacent to the same station, which will generate parking space for a total of 337 vehicles.

With this new car park, which occupies a surface area of 1,500 square meters and consists of 4 floors, FGC aims to promote Martorell Central station as an intermodal hub, where users can access the station by car to use the railroad line.
