ROMERO POLO PARTICIPATES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW WATER TANK IN VILA-SECA
Romero Polo, in a joint venture with Grup Voltes, has successfully completed the construction of the new regulating reservoir for the Consorci d’Aigües de Tarragona (CAT) in the municipality of Vila-seca, a strategic water infrastructure designed to enhance the security, resilience and efficiency of the drinking water supply throughout the region. The official opening ceremony was attended by the president of CAT, Marc Brunet; the mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura; and the head of the Tarragona division of the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), Lluís Sastre, who all highlighted the technical significance of this project as a key pillar in ensuring the region’s water stability.
The project stands out for its large storage capacity, reaching 25,000 cubic metres, the equivalent of ten Olympic-sized swimming pools, which ensures a continuous, autonomous 24-hour supply in the event of any technical incident or scheduled outage for maintenance work on the main network. Despite the facility’s large scale, the project has adhered to strict criteria of sustainability and landscape integration, minimising the visual impact on the surroundings through the creation of green spaces and the construction of dry stone embankments.
This new facility will provide a direct and immediate benefit to the public and the industrial sector, strengthening the water supply to key towns such as Vila-seca, Salou, Reus, Cambrils and Mont-roig del Camp, as well as providing vital support for the southern petrochemical sector. With the completion of this project, Romero Polo reaffirms its long-standing commitment to engineering and the construction of essential infrastructure that is more sustainable and better equipped to meet the challenges of the future.
