ROMERO POLO PLACES THE FIRST BEAM OF THE NEW WILDLIFE CROSSING ON THE C-51

Romero Polo has placed the first beam of the new wildlife crossing on the C-51 road, at kilometre point 19+060, within the municipality of Rodonyà. The intervention took place last March and is part of the C-51 improvement project, funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.

The installed beam measures 40 meters in length and 1.65 meters in height. Although it is the first element to be placed, the crossing will consist of a total of 20 beams forming its main structure. The estimated duration of the works is seven months from the contract signing date, October 16, 2024.

The purpose of the new wildlife crossing is to facilitate the safe passage of animal species and prevent their access to the road, thereby reducing the risk of collisions. In Catalonia, various public authorities have promoted this type of infrastructure at critical points of the road network, especially in areas with a high incidence of wildlife-vehicle collisions involving animals such as wild boars, foxes, or hedgehogs.

With this project, Romero Polo reaffirms its commitment to safer and more sustainable mobility by integrating environmental protection into the development of responsible infrastructure.
