ROMERO POLO STARTS THE NEW GARBAGE COLLECTION AND STREET CLEANING SERVICE IN THE CITY OF REUS

Romero Polo and Valoriza have formed the UTE REUS NET, which began the cleaning service of public space and municipal garbage collection in the city of Reus on October 1. The contract has a duration of 10 years, and has been awarded for an amount of 106,424,359.20 € (VAT excluded) for the entire period of the agreement.

For the implementation of the new service, REUS NET has made an investment in machinery of more than 10,5 million euros, mainly in electric vehicles and vehicles powered by Compressed Natural Gas. The main objective is to ensure a reduction of the environmental impact. As for the management and efficient use of water, the 17 vehicles that carry out the pressurized irrigation tasks of all the services have a set of elements that guarantee a drastic reduction in the amount of water used without losing efficiency in cleaning, installing pumps with higher pressure and lower flow.

As for the provision of services, REUS NET will have three facilities in the municipality: a Central Park and two auxiliary premises, which will be adapted to improve the current services. It has also been proposed the acquisition of a photovoltaic energy collection system of 30 kW of power installed in the Central Machinery Park. As this power is greater than the Park’s needs, it will be possible to generate surplus energy.

It should be noted that Romero Polo has extensive experience in the province of Tarragona, as it provides services and public and private works in the Tarragona region worth more than 100 million euros. Among the latest activities in the territory, the Port of Tarragona stands out, as well as the remodeling of the road network and the execution of the works of the track for connected and autonomous vehicles by Applus Idiada.
