ROMERO POLO WILL BUILD THE NEW HOME OF THE ALT PENEDÈS MUSIC SCHOOL IN LES CABANYES

Romero Polo has been awarded the contract to build the new home of the Alt Penedès Music School, a long-awaited facility that will be located in the municipality of Les Cabanyes. The project involves a modern building of almost 1,000 square metres, entirely on a single, accessible ground floor. The space has been designed to make the most of every corner, with the majority of the floor area (476 square metres) dedicated exclusively to music classrooms, whilst the remainder will be divided between communal access areas, administrative offices, storage rooms and toilets. Work will begin in mid-June with a completion timeframe of 14 months, representing a major boost for culture and education in the region.

From a construction perspective, the building stands out for its technical solutions, which ensure its safety, design and, above all, its educational function. As it is a music school, the interior will feature special wall cladding designed to absorb sound, preventing echoes and ensuring perfect acoustics in the classrooms. Structurally, deep foundations will be laid using buried piles to ensure maximum stability on the site, special underfloor insulation will be installed to protect against damp, and a concrete roof with a unique geometric design will be constructed. Externally, the centre will stand out for its exposed brick façades with modern curved shapes. In addition, Romero Polo’s work will include the development of the surrounding area, paving the footpaths, installing benches and handrails, and constructing a wall of large rocks to aesthetically address the uneven ground.
