ROMERO POLO WILL EXPAND THE AIRCRAFT PARKING AREA AT ALGUAIRE AIRPORT

Romero Polo has been awarded by Airports of Catalonia to carry out the works to extend the long-term aircraft parking area at Alguaire Airport, in Lleida. The works must be completed within four months, and have been awarded to the construction company for more than 698,700 euros.

The Generalitat’s public company put these works out to tender together with the repairs and improvements to the more than 30,000m2 of aircraft parking that the Lleida airport site currently has. With this expansion, Alguaire Airport is expected to increase its capacity and improve its services to meet the air traffic of the region.

In addition to the expansion of the aircraft parking area, Romero Polo will build two hangars: the first will have a surface area of 2136m2; the second will have a total useful surface area of 2376m2, the size required to park aircraft of the size of the A321 Neon type. It will also carry out the urbanization of the access to the hangar area of the airport, which foresees a single transversal platform in the projected roads, where the roadway for vehicles will be at the same level as the space for pedestrians and landscaping.

Thus, on the road that starts at the current parking area, a 7m wide roadway is planned that encompasses the current 4.5m wide roadway. On the right side towards the hangars, there will be a 1.20m long, triangular-shaped concrete-lined ditch.
