SEGRIÀ WASTE CONSORTIUM RECOGNIZES TO ROMERO POLO THE EXTENSION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE SEGRIÀ DUMP

The Consorci de Residus del Segrià, integrated by the Consell Comarcal, la Paeria and the Generalitat, has been awarded to the UTE formed by Romero Polo and Valoriza (Grupo Sacyr) the extension and management of the dump of El Segrià in Montoliu de Lleida for a period of ten years with the possibility of extensions of ten years more. The project is valued at 122 million euros. The enlargement works will contribute to increase the recycling index of El Segrià.

The concession includes the construction of docks, a waste selection plant and a composting plant, as well as the expansion of the vessels to increase the capacity of the dump and increase the volume of recycling and its useful life. The project will have a first exploitation phase valued at 1.6 million that will last two years, a second phase of exploitation valued at 2.8 million per year that will be extended for eight years, and the execution of Construction tasks whose cost amounts to 14 million euros.

The tender for the competition, started in May 2015, Romero Polo and Valoriza have been highlighted due to their technical and economic characteristics of the proposal.
