ILNET WILL USE ELECTRONIC ORGANIC CONTAINERS TO IMPROVE THE CLEANING SERVICE IN PARDINYES-BALÀFIA

Ilnet will carry out the door-to-door waste collection service for 3,700 homes in the areas of Pardinyes and Balàfia (Lleida) through a new system that includes organic containers with electronic closure and a user identification card.

The Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Ecological Transition of Lleida, Sergi Talamonte, recently visited Ilnet’s facilities where he saw this innovative model, which will enable the measurement of the level of recycling. In addition, the new method will remove the container islands from the public space, keeping only the glass and new organic matter containers.

Some of this new recycling formulas have already been implemented in the areas of Ciutat Jardí and Vila Montcada where “selective collection values of 87% have been achieved, with a consequent improvement for the environment and for the economy”, remarked the Deputy Mayor during his visit to the Ilnet facilities.

At the end of the year, the Town Council and Ilnet will carry out an information campaign regarding the new waste collection system among neighbours, retail stores and associations. The project will start with a pilot plan in January 2021 in the north-east area of Pardinyes and Balàfia.
