ROMERO POLO ADDS ONE OF THE FIRST TWO HYBRID TANKERS IN SPAIN
Romero Polo adds a new ACMAR hybrid emulsion tanker to its vehicle fleet, mounted on a Scania chassis. It features electric technology to optimize road construction operations and reduce fuel consumption.
The unit, imported through MAROPSA—a company specializing in public works machinery—is one of the first two of its kind to arrive in the Spanish market, making this acquisition a pioneering move in the sector.
Originally designed for applying emulsions and binders, the machine stands out for its versatility: it can also be used for spraying, water supply, or cleaning tasks, eliminating the need for different vehicles depending on the job.
Its key differentiator is an auxiliary electric system that runs processes such as binder recirculation, thermal oil circulation, emulsion heating, operating the multi-service module (water, diesel, AdBlue, and cleaning supply), and lance spraying—all without keeping the combustion engine running. Consequently, the truck significantly cuts down thermal engine idle time, resulting in lower fuel consumption and emissions, as well as reduced noise pollution to improve worker well-being.
Road construction and maintenance demand equipment capable of operating over long shifts and, during certain work phases, keeping systems running even when the vehicle is stationary. By incorporating this technology, the tanker better utilizes stored energy and optimizes operational downtime, offering a more efficient alternative for a high-performance activity while conserving resources.
In doing so, Romero Polo reaffirms its commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability—two strategic pillars aligned with European development goals across infrastructure construction and public service delivery.
