Romero Polo was founded in 1984. The drive and vision of its founder and current president, José Antonio Romero Polo, consolidated the company as a reference in the construction sector in Catalonia and Aragon.

After 41 years of history in combining a business tradition built on solid values, a team of best in class professionals, and the will to innovate every day, the company promotes a broad spectrum of construction works and urban and environmental services in all areas, with a clear focus on sustainability and a special dedication to the global management of municipal necessities.

With the incorporation of the second generation of the family into the company’s management team, Romero Polo has entered a new stage of corporate growth, always maintaining a clear commitment to professionalism and transparency. The company also has a prestigious board of directors made up of executive and independent directors.

All our activities are possible thanks to the commitment of the team made up of more than 600 people that work for Romero Polo, a business group composed of 22 companies that cover the entire value chain and through which we promote new projects every day.

Compliance

The adoption of an ethical business culture is essential to preserve the trust of our clients and prestige within society.

This code of ethics aims to capture the principles and values ​​that must guide the actions of Romero Polo managers and workers, as well as that of suppliers, customers and external collaborators. For workers, compliance with the ethical code is mandatory and any eventual infraction will be sanctioned. All those responsible for the group will ensure that the ethical code is respected.

Social action

At Romero Polo we believe that the private sector should contribute to the progress and improvement of social welfare, as the return to society is one of our main values.

In terms of corporate responsibility, we carry out policies and activities in collaboration with associations and institutions in the cultural, health, sports and environmental fields, and we focus on social and humanitarian causes that help people in need. As a result of our involvement in social action projects, we have received various awards.

R&D&i

At Romero Polo we are convinced that innovation is key for delivering top quality products and services. For this reason, we promote an innovative culture through our R&D&i Committee. It is comprised of professionals from different disciplines and functions within the company, and it is open to the participation of the entire Romero Polo team. Through this body, we have reached collaboration agreements with different universities and companies from other sectors for the development of new innovative projects.

To date, Romero Polo has certified and implemented a R&D&i management system based on the Spanish standard ISO56001, being all R&D&i projects carried out by Romero Polo focused on improving sustainability and digitalization in all its business areas, which is in line with the corporate strategy of the company.

DEY-ASFALTO: Use of swine manure as raw material for road construction.
Abstract:
The current project is focused on reducing the environmental impact of bituminous mixtures by decreasing the consumption of petroleum-based bituminous binders and partially, or fully, replacing them by bio-binders obtained from swine manure.

PAP-ASFALT: Use of by-products and recoverable waste from the paper industry in the asphalt industry.
Abstract:
The main objective of this project is the recovery of two of the main wastes of the paper industry, which contain a high percentage of cellulose fiber, for its subsequent use as an additive in high-performance asphalt mixtures.

SERAP: Development of a New RAP Heating System in Asphalt Plants
Summary:
The main objective of this project is the development of an innovative solution that minimizes the environmental impact associated with raw materials and energy consumption during the production of asphalt mixtures.

RESIFALT: Valorization of Construction and Demolition Waste for Implementation in Asphalt Mixtures
Summary:
The general objective of this project is to demonstrate, both in a laboratory environment and in a real-scale operational setting, the technical, environmental, and economic feasibility of using the waste generated by the asphalt and construction divisions of Grupo Romero Polo, with EWC codes 170101, 170302, and 170504, in the production of new solutions based on asphalt mixtures.

PLADSUI: Development of an AI-Based Digital Platform for Sustainable Planning of Urban and Interurban Services
Summary:
The main objective of the project is the development of a digital platform based on artificial intelligence (AI) for sustainable planning of urban and interurban services, enabling cost reduction, improved environmental sustainability, and maximization of operational efficiency.

Energy efficiency actions at the Pavigar industrial complex
Summary:
Improvement of industrial processes for the production of aggregates and asphalt mixtures through the implementation of more energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable systems.

Execution period:
2020 – 2021

Funding:
Project supported by the aid programme for energy savings and efficiency for SMEs and large companies in the industrial sector, co-financed by the ERDF, coordinated by IDAE and managed by the Autonomous Communities, funded by the NFons Nacional d’eficiència Energètica, with the aim of achieving a cleaner and more sustainable economy.

Improvement of the sustainability of the manufacturing process and laying of asphalt mixtures at PAPSA
Summary:
This project aims to implement actions to renew or upgrade equipment and machinery to produce sustainable pavements using one of the following techniques: recycling of pavements at rates above 15%, incorporation of rubber from ELTs, and reduction of manufacturing temperatures.

Promotion of the circular economy at the Pavigar complex
Summary:
This project aims to implement measures to improve the management and treatment of pavement recycling, so that it can subsequently be used in the production of new asphalt mixtures, thereby reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials by up to 30%.
